Default Awesome racing night

As some of you know, I went to the strip tonight. And I had a great time. I made 8 passes all togeather. 3 were solo becuase I got there earily and no one was racing yet. Then I had 5 other races aginst cars, 3 of which were faster than me. My car isent as fast as most of the cars here, but I still had a lot of fun. Heres how it went.

Race #1 - Im not paying much attention to who Im racing, but it was a red Supercharged Cobolt SS. I luanch pretty good & hook. I heard him squeeling the tires a litte, but its fwd so its exspected. Anyway I'm not paying a lot of attention to who im racing, but I was ahead the entire time. Right as I was going by the boards, he passed me. He was going at least 10-15 mph faster than me & I trapped 90. When I get the slip, I see I won by .1672 becuase of the combination of me having a better reaction time & getting a better luanch. Im not sure what he ran, But I think it was a 14.7.

Race #2 - Simalar to race #1 accept this is just a plan old black cobolt with coffie can muffler. No idea what mods he had, but he obvious wasent supercharged. Off the line, I jumped out a lenth. And held it there all through 1st. When I hit 2nd I just walked away & put a few buses on him.

Race #3 - I was sapposed to race a BMW 325 that I had been talking to (the driver, not the car itself.) Anyway, they made me pull ahead of the bimmer and now I'm racing a sn197 stang GT with exhuast mods. I did pretty good but he spun a little on the luanch. I hung with him up to the 1/8th with him out about 1.5 cars. After that he pulled away & put about 3-4 cars on me.

Race #4 - Well, me and the bimmer guy decied to hot lap it & line up next to eachother againt. He had a 1997 BMW 325 with just an air intake. I had been talking to him all night and knew this was going to be a very close race, but I had no idea how close. We luanch and I pull out 1 bumper and hold it there. Then we hit 2nd, and he starts inching up on me. We are now bumper to bumper, side by side with no one pulling. After the 1k ft mark I look over & we are still dead even. We go threw the traps still side by side, I didnt know if I won. But then I looked over & saw it. The right lane win light was on & I beat him. Just like the cobolt SS, he ran a couple tenths faster than me but I treed him enought to pull of a win by .05 seconds. He came over in the pits & told me that was the best race he had ever done in his life. And it was, amazing, Probly the best race I have been in also.

Race #5 - Nothing special here. I line up aginst some ricey civic. We luanch & I pull out a car. I continue to pull slowly the entire track and he finished about 2-3 lenths behind me.

So I went 4-1 for the night and raced 3 cars that were faster than me. Not bad, but I did not reach my goal of 14.99. I did run a 15.1 on my first pass aginst the cobolt. After I get my new rear end I should be about 14.7. BTW, Right now I am an automatic with 3.08 gears.

This was the race aginst the Cobolt SS.

Good times stiggy, nice kills. I always wanted to know the outcome of a Cobalt SS v. a 3.8 Camaro.

thanks but, I would not use that race as a universal instance of a Supercharged SS vs a 3.8 camaro. If the SS had a better driver, or I had been a worse driver, Im sure the cobolt would have beaten me. They can run mid-low 14s, and that guy did trap alot faster than me. Had the track had been another 60 feet longer, I think he would have passed me.

me too, but for some reason, i cant beleave a stock SS lost that bad(not doubting stig's story, but a crappy driver?) cuz the SS's are s'pose to be like a low 14 sec car stock. and stock, about the same power to weight ratio as a camaro. only disadvantage is the FWD.

i also went for a ride in a redline one time. was stock btw. and it woulda blown my 3.8 outta the water. atleast it felt it. but may have been cuz i was a passenger.

Remember the S/C'd Cobolt did run a faster time than I did. I just out drove the guy. Like I said eariler, Im sure if he was more used to the car he could have beaten me. But...he didnt

I did win, your 1/4 mile time is the time it takes you to go from the start line to the finish line. It does not count your reaction time. So I had a better reaction time than him, lunched better & hooked better. And then just somehow kept him from overtaking me the rest of the way. I really wasent paying attention to him during the race, all I know is that as soon as I crossed the finish line, he was flying by me and thats when I realize it was a supercharged SS.
