Default Welded holes in Front of Block???

What is up with these holes that are welded up? I've never seen holes in a block here before. Any ideas? I don't think it is stock, I think someone drilled them and filled them from the looks of it.

From what I was told, it would be right in line with the fuel pump pushrod...

thats right. been to long workin on these electric fuel systems. doesnt make alot of sense to me. is the hole for the punp rod plugged. may be they didnt want to lose oil volume down it if its not being used. seems like the oil would take just as long either way to get to the pan.

From the way he was talking it wasn't, the holes looked to be drilled there, then welded. I'm thinking of just getting it, I think that it should be fine, it isn't in a high stress area, it doesn't look to be cracks. I don't know why it would be like that, but I don't think it is really anything to worry about. I'm not an engine building expert though, so I figured I'd toss it out there. I've search all over the Internet, and can't find anything on it anywhere.
