There ya go. Better than nothing, but not better than something else.

Camaro 69, which of the two heads do you think will work better for me?

That goes back to the type of pistons you end up with. The cc of the heads have to be taken into consideration, so that can limit your choices. If you're going to buy a rotating assembly package, then work from there. Not trying to sound wishy-washy, but you need to know what you're doing with the bottom end before you can decide on the top end. Or buy a whole engine rebuild kit (like from Summit of Jeg's) that's designed to work together.

I can get the compression ratio I want with either head, that's a non-issue. That's why I'm trying to pick the heads first.

OK then, to answer your original question in a simple way...between the two heads you showed at Summit, the Vortec design would be a better choice over the old school design.

Will the heads cam package really make 515HP on a stock bottom end?

Thanks. Other then the intake, what else do I need to use Vortec heads? Don't I need the self-aligning rocker arms too?

Yes you do. This article will help, read it all: http://www.popularhotrodding.com/eng...tec/index.html
Also keep in mind the lift of the cam you want to use. The Vortec heads have a limit to how much lift they can handle, before needing to be modified.

Thanks for the link. The Summit Vortec Heads are supposed to handle .520" valve lift. I won't be anywhere near that. Without looking at the cam specs, I think my both my intake and exhaust valve lift are under .470". I'll look at the cam specs when I get home from work.

If you have any more info that will help me, I'll gladly take it!
