Default swapin the 2.6 out

i currently have a 88 camaro with a 2.8L in it but i crashed my 2000 jimmy and i wanted to stick my engine from my 00 jimmy into my camaro, ive been looking for a while on swaping them and can it be done fairly easy and will the tranny thats bolted to the 2.8L work with my 4.3L? the tranny behind the 4.3L is a 4l60E auto and the 2.8 has a 5speed behind it.

if anyone could give some insite to this it would be very helpfull

thanks
nick

you will need the flywheel and clutch. the 2.8 flywheel and clutch may work, though i'm not sure. and i'm not sure if the bellhousing will work with the 4.3l. and i'm not sure why you would want to put a 4.3l in your camaro, as a 350 swap is probably much easier than foolin around with a 4.3 IMO. but if you are intent on swapping in the 4.3, you'll need what i stated earlier.

The bell housing pattern on the 4.3 is different from the 2.8. The 4.3 usesthe same pattern as the sbV8 with the pointed top. If you look at your 2.8 bell housing, you'll notice it's flat on the top.If you plan on using your existing2.8 5spd to the larger 4.3 clutch flywheel, you might want to check out advance adapters who sell a 10.5 disc with the 14 spline hub.The stock 2.8 is only 9 1/4".
What's funny is that I have the exact same year and engine as you and have been thinking about a similar swap but most of the people here always mention that a 350 swap is more worth while, cheaper, and easier. The S10 guys have been swapping out their 2.8 for the 4.3 for years so you might want to read up on some of they're forums. Good luck.
