Port And Polish
I am considering having a machine shop port and polish my intake manifold to allow better air flow any idea on the cost of this? I have a 3.4 v6.

RE: Port And Polish
It depends on who is doing it, but you may want to shop around first. The manifold on the 3.4 is not really the problem, the problem is caused by the old design heads. You can pick up quite a few horses by using the heads and intake manifolds used by the 3400 engines that come in the front drive cars, they bolt right on and besides flowing better, when used with your pistons the compression goes up to around 12:1. Check the sticky in the V6 section.

Not that bad to change heads, easier than a V8 being you have more room to maneuver. If you use the 3400 heads, make sure to get the roller rocker that go with them, they have a pedestal that keys into the head. Also you will need headers as the log manifolds that are used in the fron drives won't work in a Camaro.

Yeah, I know. That's the problem when using the stock pistons, not too happy as a street car. Did this swap on my son's 93 Grand Prix, and the car runs high 14s & mid 90s & no power adders. Would probably do better with a good set of headers, but can't find any ready made stuff for a horizontal mounted engine, and don't have the ambition to weld up a set.
