I changed my oil with 10w30 and put in a can of Restore with it. Now I loose oil pressure after it warms up. It starts off at 40 then goes down to 10. It did not do this before the oil change. I just need to get it thru the summer as this winter it is getting torn down and gone thru as the rear main is leaking bad. Can I change to 15w40 will this help or 15w30. Any input wiould be great. What kind of oil filter did you use?

 

I used a Mobile oil filter, higher end one 7.95 from Advanced.

 

where on the gage is the needle? 10 lbs at idle and operating temp is ok and will not harm the motor and yes you can switch to a heaver oil if you wish to. 15w40 or 20w40 would probly bring it up a bit. ya know it could be the elixir,,, sorry,,, restore has thinned the oil a bit.

 

At idle it is at 10 or 15 after it warms up, then around 20 going down the road. It starts off great for the first 5-10 minutes around 40 then slowly drops. I was told by a few others that the Restore does also thin the oil even more. Thanks, Jerod

 

lol. That is what you get for mixing snake oil with engine oil. Refill with some good 20W40 oil & pressure should come up.

I've put Restore in my daughters Chevy Crapalier with upwards of 100k miles. I did it mostly for viscosity reasons, not because I was expecting a miracle in a can (not that it needs it either).
The above comments about Restore thinning out your motor oil are totally unfounded, since the stuff is much thicker, like honey.

 

Yeah, Restore doesn't thin out the oil. Restore is the only additive I'll use. I just put a V8 sized can in my Jeep 4.0. Before I had a slight knock at idle and the ever so common 4.0 lifter tick. Lifter tick and knock are now gone.

 

obviously it doesnt work to well if his pressure got worse. that is if the pressure did get worse. he did not say what the pressure was before, only that it was dropping now and didnt before.
