When I stab into her real hard and get into the boost it will sometimes (really on happened 2-3 times) pop/detonate/backfire between shifts. It scares the hell out of me (not the noise, dont want to blow the thing up though). This happened when I raced motocross on my 125's that were built, the prob was the fuel. Could this be a similar situation? Do I need to have a new dyno tune? Any help would be appreciated.

 

what year car do you have. if its using a distributer, then try timing it. somtimes if it is retarded or advanced at high rpms it will not fire correctly causing a back fire.

Go get a dyno tune ASAP, it sounds like there is something off in the fuel/spark tables.
