Mid to high RPM miss

No, I really didn't see anything in the gasket. I still have it outside and off the car so I can inspect it again in a few minutes. I'm just taking a break from hooking up the ignition box and everything back to the way it was.
The stuff was kinda blackish/redish more than anything. I don't think it was corrosion because when I scraped it off there wasn't any pitting or anything and it had a slightly raised surface. I have no clue what it was. Reminded me of like a resin or something. Like some sort of gunk being pulled through and then hardening.... it could be oil from the PCV inlet coming in at the base and getting sucked through the gap and then hardening maybe. It does remind me of valve buildup now that I think of it.
Btw, I got that 400 I was telling you about. It was a really good deal and that's hopefully my next project.

That might have been a varnish stain from a gas leak trail. Could be if that was definitely a leaking point, gas could have run back through it after the engine was shut off. Varnish is tuff stuff, but carb cleaner takes it off.
Yeah, I've been following your other thread about the 400. Should be a fun project.
