hello putting a eng in a 85 c10 that i bought with out one i found a old truck that had a good running sbc he was not sure of size so i have it on a stand at the house and one of my friends wrote the numbers down to give to his dad to look up he has a big car collection he came back trying to buy it from me but no info on the motor here is the numbers on the block behind water pump VO407TXL AND C7U190796 THE CAST NUM ON THE BLOCK IS 3970010 AND THE CAST NUM ON THE HEADS ARE 458642 AND 3876775 THEY HAVE BEEN HERE A COUPLE MORE TIMES TRYING TO BUY SO TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT I HAVE ANY HELP PLEASE THANKS A LOT SHAWN the guy has told me a little bit about the motor now he told me it's a 69 302 it's number 4 of 78 made and told me not to put in truck worth to much ??????

 

3970010....302.....69....4...Z-28 Camaro
3970010....327.....69....2...Trucks and industrial
3970010....350...69-80...2 or 4

Those are the numbers for the blocks. The other two numbers are VIN and serial number and help match it to the car and gives you some assembly information.

If it is a 302 then you possibly have your hands on a rare block. I couldn't tell you more than that but someone else on here might be able to.

V=Flint engine plant
04=Assembly month (April)
07=Day of the month
TXL=1975 350, 4 barrel, 165 h.p., from a van or bus.
Not quite a 302 Z28 engine.
The one head 458642? It must be 468642 which is from a 1979-83 350 or 400
The 3876775 head is from a 1967 283 or 327
You have a nothing special, mix & (un)match engine.
