Default head care

im planning on taking off my valve covers and replacing the gaskets (im pretty sure one is blown)
if the previous owner has used gasket glue or a sealant of some sort how can i remove this without hurting the heads (not sure if the stockheads are aluminum)
thx

A good sharp gasket scraper will do the trick. Stay away from sanding discs!
