Sounds like a good solid combination. Camshaft is a bit on the soft side. You'd do better with something around 260 degrees @ .050 intake and 270 degrees exhaust on a 110 - 112 lobe seperation. You've got some pretty big heads and cubic inches so that might swallow up Your cam. I'd put an 850 - 900 cfm carb on it. Man, why didn't You use a roller? If You'd look at a lobe profile and see how long the cam stays at full lift and how fast it accelerates the lifter, You'd be amazed by the difference between a roller and a solid. Probably worth 75 + HP on a motor like that. I think that it'll make about 550 Hp @ 6500 and 510 ft/lbs tqe @ 5000 with what You have now, maybe even a bit more. Anyway You look at it, It'll be a stout runner. Good luck with it.

I should have asked you the question before I bought desktop dyno, you are within 10 hp of what it says. We were planning on going roller but started to get a bit low on our budget and the solid was cheaper. Hopefully we can go roller when the budget allows, I have a .649 lift roller but it is a inverse radius cam I was a little afraid to try it. Actually I am glad you think 550 is the number because that is what we were shooting for. Thank you very much for looking it over and the suggestions. Do you think it could break into the 10s in a 3400# car??

The larger displacement does allow for a larger cam. Don't over carb a motor, so I personally think 800-850 CFM carb would suit your application. Did you get headers? Flowtech's Tri-y's are my personal favorite.

I have a set of flowtech afterburners they appear to be to small, the port dosnt match to the header very well.

Hooker or Heddman Competition Headers with a 1 7/8 primary and a 3 1/2 or 4 inch collector will work the best. Pricey but worth it. It's pretty hard to overcarb that engine, just don't go crazy with the jets. I wouldn't put the roller in just yet. Run it awhile with the solid since it's already in. That inverse radius You spoke of, do You mean it's a small base circle or that it has the inverse ramps on the acceleration side of the lobe. If that's a Crane inverse roller, They work great, just remember to check valve clearance and run the right spring pressure. Don't be afraid of 225 - 250 pounds on the seat, They'll settle down a bit after running time. What's the duration @ .050" and lobe seperation ?

Its a Lazer cam #2970816 here is a link to the specs http://www.lazercams.com/CamTables.html. The car is a 79 camaro it has a 12 bolt rear with 4.56 gears and a posi unit, trans is a th350 with a 3500 stall, battery is relocated to the trunk, it has a 7 gallon fuel cell, 8 point roll bar, frame is tied. the car is stripped out a fiberglass frontend is in the future. I am estimating the car to weigh 3400 lbs. The rear tires are 29 x 10 hoosier slicks. Factory leaf rear(new) with poly bushings 4 degree pinion angle, traction bars, drag shocks.

That will work great!!! thanks again... what did you think of the roller cam, Ive been aquiring parts for the next build some of the sprint car guys I know are getting out and the gave me some of their spare stuff, 2 sets of offset roller lifters, two sets of valve springs, four sets of JE pistons(need checked over but look pretty good) this time I am going to try to find an aftermarket block.
