Sounds just like a shift kit to me. If it is, they do make shifts feel harder and quicker which, according to Transgo, does increase transmission life because the two gears are in contact for less time when shifting gears.

It works on the same principle as the power programmers do, it electronically alters your line pressure to firm up the shifts. I haven't used that B&M unit, but have used the power programmer before. I think I would like the ease of changing it back and forth like the B&M does.
