Default Cold Air Intake..do i need to retune my cars comp??

so i wanted to install a CAI on my 95 camaro z28..i already bought it and the only concern i have is that a worker at autozone told me that i need to have the computer retuned after i install the CAI.. they said that if i dont i could end up damaging my injectors and pistons..
is this true????

not at all.Its not going to give you that much airflow to cause a difference.

Wow, I wish a CAI could cause that much airflow, that would be sweet! That said, your computer will automatically adjust it's fuel trims to comply with the new intake, so no worries.

Truth. A lot of people who 'know cars' amaze me. :P

P.S. putting on a CAI is about the equivalent of the air charge you get the first ten minutes after start-up, before the engine is actually hot.

They scare me. One reason I became a shade tree, no skills mechanic. Lets say I had a bad experience when I was young.

That is about the best explanation I've heard yet. Morning map my choke plate. Exactly.

Someone with money and a way to make an inner cooler said theirs would make 50 extra HP using this hot way to cool the air and a K&N was thrown in there just so the darn needle would read off the dyno. I asked if they waited for winter, would did dent they get 50 extra HP if it stayed stock is wait a 1/4 season?

They booted me off is I lost my password on that one. Pretty funny about those experts. I have more, but that was from personal website experience.

Where is another expert mechanic? I got a qualifier question them.
