Default Checking Push Rod Length

I bought an adjustable push rod length checker for my build. However, the diameter is too large to fit in the slot in the guide plate.

What's my way around this?

Yep, that's what I was gonna say too. You'll only have to remove one of them anyway.

This is what I had planned, but I didn't know if not having the guide plate in would affect the valvetrain geometry and give me an inaccurate measurement. I'm sure I will need a washer of the same thickness as the guide plate then too, correct?

nope dont need washer, the plate missing will not effect valve or rocker movement. guide plate is for when the motor is running so the pushrods dont bouce out of place on high revs. i would retouque the bolts but i dont know that is required.

Taking out the guide plate isn't going to be changing your rocker arm to valve stem geometry. In essence, you're just changing the height of the stud.

+1

The nut will only let it go down so far since the tip is resting on the top of the valve stem and the rear is on the pushrod. The arm stud is just to make sure it's held at correct lash.

What type of cam are you running?
