Default Carb to TPI swap

OK, I'm buying a TPI system from Ebay with a new fuel pressure regulator and new injectors, comes with everything but computer and harness. Now, what problesm would I run into swapping out the systems? I already know about the fuel tank needing to be modified for the pickup, and I'll need an O2 sensor, but has anyone done this swap and ran into any issues? The manifold is from a later model ('88) so I'll be modifying the mount holes to fit my engine, and I'm planning on popping my 700r4 in there at the same time so I can use the computer for the lock-up, etc. Any more issues I'll need to deal with?

Carb to TPI swap...all I can say is good luck. You only bought half the system to start and that was the easy part. Biggest problemsare going to be the wiring harness, sensors, prom, ecm, fuel pumpand etc. Also you did not mention if the injectors were for a 305 or 350. I made the swap from 305TPI to a 350 and it was easy because everthing was in place and you are starting from ZERO. Good Luck again.

Actually, the injectors are from an LS1 so I'll have to get the chip programmed for that. I know I'm missing half of it but I'll get it together. I'm going to make sure I've got EVERYTHING before I even try to begin...

As said above the harness and the ecu are going to be the hardest part of the project. There are a few companies out there that make complete sets if you look around on the forums and maybe on ebay you might be able to find one used for a good price. I have a filling this might help you get around some of the head ache you are about to have. But please keep us up to date and fill free to ask questions we will try to help out as much as we can with what ever direction you try to go.

I was planning on buying one from a TPI set up and getting a new chip for it. Or would it be better to get an aftermarket one?

My search for parts is going well. TPI intake, plenum, etc. is being sent shortly, once my money order is recieved. I popped up an ad on cragslist.com in the two cities nearest to me and have already found a distributer from the correct year and a computer/wiring harness. I only have one question, about the fuel tank.... Is there any way I can get away without modifying it? Could I just get a fuel tank from a later model truck that may have the baffle?
