Default Bore size

What is the most reasonable size to bore a stock 350 from a 72 El camino? An where can I get the kit. Also what tools would I need so I can start to buy that stuff for April when I plan on doing this build. I am not familiar with this stuff so any advice would help. T.I.A.!

i believe bore it 30 over for a 355

max i would go, when you start boring it, you decrease the life of your engine, because you are reducing the thickness of your cylinder walls

can always stroke it for a 383 stroker

If you want to bore out the block you will need to invest in a engine boring machine such as Sunnen which will cost more than your engine. lol If you want more displacement, stroking is a better way to go, otherwise have the engine bored the minimum amount to clean up the bore. Let the machine shop buy the pistons for you and you will be sure they fit. The price will be about the same as if you purchased them yourself.

You are correct sir, stroking is definitely the way to go for more displacement, boring just destroys your engines lifespan heh

Fyi, a 383 stroker motor is automatically based on an .030 overbored block.
