Default Acceptable distributor?

Hello,
I have a 79 camaro with a 305. I pretty much tired of trying to make junk worn out parts come to together and form a good running engine. So im getting rid of my quadrajet(missing half the pieces), my stockintake, and distributor(with rusty interior from moisture). Ivefound what appears to be a nicely rebuilt 600 edelbrock for around$140 and a performer intake for $80. I have found this distributor:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tchlink:top:us
Do you guys think this would be any good? I just can't justify spending big bucks on a top of the line distributor for a 305. If this distributor is good I think my package should be a good uprgade for the money. thanks

Dont waste your time with that cheap ebay ****, you will pay for it down the road. It might look good, but the truth is it is crap. The drive gears are crap too, just imagine having that gear break apart at 4000 rpm, by by engine...

Would this be better than the gm distributor you listed above?

I was surprised to see that msd made a lower level distributor.

Mallory is much better than MSD IMHO, Mallory first, MSD second, then Accel a distant last. I just posted the GM one since you were looking for something cost efficient, but if you are willing to go in the $150 range, the Mallory for $146 is the way to go, no doubt.

You couldn't give me a Mallory dist. If you want a cheap replacement dist. just go to Napa and get a rebuilt one for your year of Camaro.
When changing carbs and intakes make sure there smog legal or you will not pass smog.

dont wuss out when it comes to your distributor. MSD makes a pro billet stand alone distributor with a built in magnetic pickup. works with or without an ignition box. tough as nails. runs about $200 bucks. more pricey that stock but well worth it. make sure you use an MSD coil as well. accel has a tendency to fry under pressure. Sick
