What will make the ABS light come on in a 96 z28? I'm trying to pin point if it is a sensor or something else more expensive. Is there any quick ways of finding out without running to the chevy place.

You can go around & check all the ABS wiring, but it probably won't fix the problem. You need to get the ABS scanned, with an ABS scanner, not a regular scan tool. The code will tell you what trouble the system is seeing. Once the ABS lite is lit the ABS system is inoperative, but you still will have brakes.
