Default 97 LT1 upgrades

hey guys...i got a 97 ss convertible which is a 30th anniversary car. motor is bone stock. i'm looking to add more horsepower. i guess my questions are what upgrades would you recommend to get the most bang for my buck? i'm concerned about doing the insides too much just because i want to keep the integrity of the 30th anniversary. any opinions would be awesome!

ps...i got about 2-2500 to spend on it

i would say get the basics, you basically have cold air intake already, get apolished aluminum intake elbow, BBK or HOLLEY dual 56-58mm throttle body, get a nice set of headers with performance Y pipe going to a nice cat-back magnaflow exhaust system.

what kind of trans? if its an auto get a higher stall Tq converter and 3.73 rear gears.
if its a stick then get 4.10 gears and cags switch.

get a new performancetq mount, panhard rod(s) performance lower control arms bigger rear tires,
and get a good dyno, or mail order tune, that should be good for a while.

the second step would be new valvetrain/ rest of the bolt-ons.

I would say a pulley kit is a pretty easy, cheap and decent mod also. And a PCM flash at a local shop to take advantage of ur mods. I would say that covers alot of it!

The water pump, which is the big power user at high RPM is gear driven in an LT1 engine, and changing pulleys accomplishes nothing. However, you can upgrade to an electric water pump, and save a few horses. The other accessories, AC, alternator, power steering pump, do not react too well to being slowed down, and only draw power when needed.
