Default 4th gen f body engine removal

Found this and thought i'd share. This is a how to on removing the engine/trans from the bottom on an LS1 car but should be pretty similar to the lt-1 cars too.

Nice find. I love watching Horsepower. I wish they would have done more on fourth gen Camaros though. I don't think they've ever done an episode on the LT1 which saddens me.

Having a lift would make all of the difference in the world with this job but i had this link in my favorites. IDK if i found it on the forums or i stumble on it. but here is a write up on how to do this with out a lift. Seems like it could be done easily in you home garage. Engine Removal

Some people like to leave the transmission attached to the motor. Is it more easier to pull the transmission first with the motor?

We're talking car lifts....not the lift supports for the hood and hatch. Haha.

Well dropping it from the bottom the motor and trans will still be bolted together with the motor still on the k member so you would not have to pull the trans. I have done this twice without a lift. Just as easy just takes a wee bit longer. If you got a good hoist. Now if I was removing my 350 out of my third gen from the top, it it a lot simpler to keep the trans bolted to the back of the block untill its out.
