with 4.10's ill be around 2500rpms and with 3.73's ill be some thing like 2300rpms at 60mph

It will actually be closer to 3000 with the 4.11s and 2700 with the 3.73s at 60mph with your size tire.

Why not try a 3.55

if you want to fry the tires then the 3:73 would be better because the tires will spin faster with the same RPM, But the 427 likes RPM's like the 327 and 302's, so I would go with the 4:11's there the best all round gears for what you want. I have them in my Firebird with a SBC with no porb. and I run it on the freeway also

I have a '69 with a 427 - 4 speed and 4.10's / 3000 RPM @ 60 mph not 2500. I don't know how big of a cam you have, but if it's too big, You won't have ANY low end torque. Mine has the Comp cam 280 solid and has plenty of vacuum and good low end torque. I'd say to soften up the cam and go with 3.73's. The 4.10's are a bit much for street unless you have an overdrive gear in the transmission. Sounds like You have an M21 or M22 Muncie with that first gear, A 2.50 - 2.65 first gear would do You better on a street car. Mine has 10.25-1 compression , Hard valve seats and runs on super unleaded. ( 93 octane ) I ran the quarter in it once just to see what it would do and I borrowed a Buddies set of small slicks and it ran a 11.87 @ 114 quarter. I didn't build it to race, so that's the reason for only one time at the track. I had 2 race cars at the time and felt no need to beat up My street car.

get rid of the single plane manifold and go with a performer intake. I had a single plane on my 454 and all the power was at the top end, had to put on the stock dual plane for hood clear,and now she frys the tires just by thinkin about it. single plane's are made for wide open power at the higher RPM's unless you plan on racing like nascar go with a dual.
