383 stroker question...

Default 383 stroker question...

Im thinking of buying a 1995 Z28. The guy told me that it has a 383 stroker kit. What is a stroker kit? Is it a 383 engine or a LT1 with certain kit parts on it? Also is this more HP than an original LT1? Can it be used for a daily driver? It also has a 2500 stall converter installed...

A 383 stroker is a 'kit', so to speak, that you add to your original engine (whether it's an old school sbc 350, lt1, or ls1). The additional cubes come from the swapping of the original crank with a 400 crank, and a .030 over-bore. If built correctly, yes, it will have substantially larger amounts of horsepower over the stock lt1. If it's built correctly, and that 2500 stall reflects a relatively mild cam, then yes, it'll be very easy as a daily driver.

but it could be build correctly with stock heads/cam and make maybe 1hp over stock. but i doubt the stroked it to use stock heads/cam

your gonna hav to go carbed and set your car up lik that i believe. i dont think the computer in the 95 will control a traditional efi sbc

yeah,you would have to go carbed unless you buy a programmable controller for your fuel injection.
