Default 383 stroker

I am building a 350 to a 383 stroker and am wondering if a Pro Comp Stroker crank is a good swap. I don't want any expensive forged crank and don't think I'll need it for a 375-430 estimated hp. Has anybody had any experience with this crank or know alot about it? If so any information is appreciated.

Thx

For 375, might as well stay with a 350.

You are talking about the Scat Pro Comp right? I know of people running them without any problems, I was going to use one in a 400 I spoke to the biggest crank grinder around our area and he told me to use the stock crank instead but that was 2 yrs ago things might have changed since then. I agree with Norm though for 375 hp you could just go with the 350 and save a little money.

I would also have to agree there. Save your money on the crank and $600 machine job and buy yourself a supercharger instead.

I doubt $600 unless he used my machine shop I was thinking maybe $200 if he used the stock crank and didnt have to have the block clearanced.

Nah, I don't even like golf that much. And machine shops must be cheaper there than they are here. Then again, Maryland is expensive as hell.

Well from what I have read about 383 strokers is that you can gain 50hp and close to that in torque, by the way I've heard that they resemble close to a big block. Do you really notice a power and torque with a 383 compared to a 350? How much does it cost to have a block bored out? I don't know if the engine specs of the engine I will be building will help determining weather or not to go through with the 383 and estimateing the power but here they are.
750 cfm holley
Holley dual plane intake
Hooker super comp headers
Dart pro 1 heads 2.02 intake/200cc/64cc chambers
Hypereutectic pistons 10.3.1 compression
cam specs around 295 duration/.500 lift
Mallory dual point or accel electronic not sure which yet
Holley mechanical fuel pump
standard rods, rockers

Do you have more cam specs? There are some very good running 383s it all depends on what you want and want to spend. Street engine driven alot or strip engine. I cant remember is your block a 4 bolt? Bore and torque plate hone around $200 in my area. The scat or eagle cast crank are rated for 500 hp alot of people do run them with no problems. I wouldnt want to mess with the dual point distrib.

It will be a daily driver and maby twice a month or so hit the strip. I changed my mind a little about the cam here are the specs. It will be a Crane cams saturday night special hydraulic, 282/282 adv. durition, .470/.470 lift. The block is a 4 bolt main.

Thx

i am not sure but is that a small base circle cam and clearence the block plus change push rod length. with that setup you will get better performance out of a street avnenger 670. that 750 will kill your low end and you will never use all of the carb then motor is only going to pull what it needs the cfm rating is the mak the carb can flow not what it will flow with the 670 you will still have all the carb you need plus it will move faster throught the smaller venturies and that will give you better low end. my shop here charges $40 for the first plus $20 for wach of the rest so about $180-$200 to bore it
