Default 231ci 3.8 to a 350ci

I have a 1996 Camaro with the 3.8 V6 and I'm now looking for something with more power. Everyone tells me to not even bother trying to put a 350ci motor in it because it would be too much work and I would be better off just buying a used Z28. Me being as hard headed as I am would rather do it all myself, I'm 17 and have a lot of freetime on my hands and I can just buy part by part until I can finally build the motor. My question is what all will I have to swap out as far as the computer goes to make this car run right. I would also like to know how much it should cost just for the parts to do the actual swap. I would like advice mainly from those that have already done the motor swap or from anyone very familiar with the components under the hood of Camaros. I'm not trying to be rude but I'm trying to get the most accurate idea of how much I will be spending.

I would think about a grand. Without the motor, more like 2k. Just a rough estimate. Could go as much a 3k. So a safe budget with those numbers would be about 3.5k.
