1964 Rochester Fuel-Injection for a 1978 Camaro??

Post 1964 Rochester Fuel-Injection for a 1978 Camaro??

Hey guys!! Just like the title says! My dad has a 1964 Rochester Fuel-Injection for a 327 Corvette. This might be a dumb question buuuut will the fuel-injection fit on my 350? Is the 327 manifold compatible to a 350? Thanks in advance!

It should bolt right on but I wouldn't use it.
It's a nice piece to use for resto work on a vintage Vette or other MFI Chevy but you'll get better performance from a good highrise intake and carb.
You could sell that set up and buy an nice intake and carb along with some other goodies for what that old FI set up would go for.

Yes, it will bolt right up. Back in the day, a lot of owners ended up taking the FI unit off and putting on a 4 barrel setup because it was a P.I.T.A. to keep running right. Now, those units are worth gold since those who want one are needing it for a "correct" restoration.
Unfortunately, whoever polished that FI unit to a nice pretty shiny luster, totally ruined the value of it to anybody wanting to use it for an original FI engine resto. You could have bought another real nice car for what that FI would have been worth. I know a guy who was restoring an original 57 FI Vette, and for the longest time he was looking for the original glass fuel filter unit for it. He finally found one.....for $1,500!

True and it's too bad it was polished indeed but I think it would still bring pretty good money to the right person perhaps doing a resto mod.
Probably enough to do a pretty trick engine in that '78.

Oh absolutely, it's still worth a pretty penny. Just if it was in original finish it would be worth a prettier penny!

Thanks for responding back guys! I appreciate all your feedback. My dad and I are just blown away at the prices it's going for on eBay! My dad bought the fuel-injection for $250 from a fellow who owned a 1964 Vette show car back in '71. You really think the guy who polished it took away its value?
Yes, yes! A trick engine would be amazing! Lets see...how about a 454???

Yes Camaro 69 is right,it did devalue it quite a bit as it is no longer good for a correct resto.
That said it's still a valuable piece,I suspect you could indeed have a 454 in your '78 for what you would glean from that Rochester FI unit.

He did, as far as fetching top dollar for it is concerned. There might be someone out there who would want it to put FI back on their car if the car originally came equipped with it. And absolute "originality" may not be as important to them if the car is a "driver".
But the hobby gets real nuts when you want to build a 100% correct car for show or top-dollar value (trailer queen). Once aluminum has been smoothed and polished like that is, there's no way to have it look like the natural finish it used to have. And that's what someone will be looking for to perform a "correct" resto.
When cars are being judged, it has to be like how it was when it left the factory. That's why show cars like that are trailered and not driven. Even a bug stuck in the radiator will lose you points, since it didn't come from the factory that way.

Well that's a bummer But good news! We found the distributor that went with it! Plus all these extra goodies too! We'll be putting it up on eBay soon. I hope someone wants it out here....
