Question Wax?

I have a 1987 Red Iroc, the paint is not faded but has minor swirl marks in it. which wax would really bring out the red and remove most of the swirls?

you might want to clay bar it first and then a good cleaner wax and finsh it off with a good polish, but i could be wrong in the steps,i dont have mutch pratice in waxing becuase my car is primer, but head down to the local paint shop and see what they reckonmend you do the can also look at the paint and point you in the right derection. sorry about the spelling geting tired i guess.

a wax or clay won't remove swirlmarks. you need polishes specifically designed for removing swirlmarks and really need a buffer to do it effectively

What you want to do is claybar it first to take out all the accumulated debris and road grime on the paint. If you polish it without doing that its like the equivalent of painting a car before cleaning off the surface with a prep wipe and tack cloth. Secondly, you will want to polish it. You will get much better results if you use a random orbital polisher like a Porter Cable 7424 compared to polishing it by hand. Polishing it is the key to getting out swirl marks and other light imperfections. Thirdly, you will want to use a good carnuba wax not a cleaner wax, I prefer Mother's. That way you will seal and protect all the work you just did. From then on in order to keep your car looking good in between clay barring and waxing, detail spray is your best friend. Take it from me man, the paint on my car is 9 years old and still looks great.
