RE: Primer help
use a finer sandpaper. are you saying your wetsanding your primer?
|
RE: Primer help
yes im wetsanding with 600 grit, thats the finest i could find locally
|
RE: Primer help
You will probably have to go to an actual bodyshop to get anything finer... that or on www.eastwood.com not sure about the price though...

RE: Primer help
what are you painting
are you just seeing the fine swirlmarks, or are you actually seeing scratches? swirlmarks are normal. this is why after painting cars get sanded with 1200-1600 grit paper and then get buffed to get rid of the fine scratches 600 grit sandpaper is actually a lot smoother than you should be using. the primer is there to protect and help with adhesion so you actually need some type of surface finish for the paint to stick to |
RE: Primer help
You should be able to find finer grit sand paper (800, 1000, 1200) at a local paint store such as sherwin williams, porter paints, ICI, etc. Used a lot for laquer projects, so they carry it.

RE: Primer help
most of the time 400 grit should be the finest used to wetsanding primer.
