Cool just detailed the wifes 02 Z28

So this past Saturday I detailed the outside of the Z28 while my wife Jen did the inside. It took me from 8:30am till about 4pm, which is actually fast for me when I do heavy exterior work. We started off with a 2 bucket wash system and 2 ounces of Optimum No Rinse. As you can see in the pics some areas needed sanding so I hit those with 1500 the 3000 grit sand paper via DA. After that I used 3M's Perfect It Rubbing Compound with a Dwalt rotary poly fiber wool pad the sanded spots. Then I did the rest of the paint with my Porter Cable random orbital & Menzerna's Intensive Polish with an orange Lake Country pad, Menzerna's Nano Polish with a white Lake Country pad, and finally Menzerna's Finishing Glaze with a blue Lake Country pad. Once all the polishing was complete used a red Lake Country pad to apply 2 coats of Clearkote's Yellow Moose Cream Wax. Then I applied 2 coats of Blackfire's "Wet Diamond" paint sealant with at least 15 minutes between applying and removing to allow time for the Blackfire to cure.
We are planning on having the front bumper painted cause the clear coat is starting to flake off & we are also having the whole drivers side painted because some jerk tried to break into the drivers door with a crowbar causing damage to the rear quarter panel and drivers door when the previous owner had it

We also forgot to take pics of the interior before Jen cleaned it, but it looks amazing & I'll have to get some pics up for that asap!

Enjoy!

Wow looks really good. That sucks about it getting all scratched up due to some dumb person trying to steal it.

Thanx man! I wish it was just scratches, this guy wasn't screwing around. But if he would have stole it the right way then we wouldnt be shelling out money for body work lol

A friend of ours is hooking us up with the body work so she'll be getting patched up soon.

My front end doesnt have clear coat either cause it was painted and is just gloss black, ill give it a good polish and hopefully it will come up nice. Im saving for a re-spray anyway, but go faster parts are first

Maybe he did. The outer skin is plastic and glued to the door body. Peel it off and you can get to the innards. Looks like the thief was half way there, but that's still the harder way in!
Car looks real good, nothing beats a good shine. Up here in the sloppy north though, it would be a waste of time.
