Default What part of the ECM....

My nephew owns a V8 86 camaro. He installed a 350 HO motor with an Eldebrock carb, intake and a HEI distributor. Now the carb, intake and distributor are of the non-electronic type. He wants to remove all the computer system that are not being used, but we don't know what part of the computer system is being used. The distributer just has the power wire, tach wire and the electronic module wires attached to it and has a vacuum advance. The carb does not have any wires attached to it. The intake has a vacuum hose hook up to the MAP sensor and another device that looks like the MAP sensor, a hose to the power brake booster, one to PVC valve and one hose to the vacuum canister.

What system of th ECM is being used that we need not disturb? What can we get rid off?
Thanks in advance

You could probably do away with the computer completely with some rewiring and rerouting of vacuum hoses.

Does the transmission use the computer?

The other thing you need to do is check your local emission laws. some state yo have to have all emission components.

Let me tell you what, we all are going to check all local laws before doing any cool mods to the car.

take it all out if you have a carb, except the map sensor

you can take out the brake booster hose if you want , but you'll crash pulling out of your driveway

haha

big problem here. cant just get rid of part of the ecm. if you do that then the car wont run correctly. either deal with it(not a good choice) or do away with it.

Im facing these options now (actually in the near future)
