Default Trap Door Fuel Pump Replace- Convertible

I recently had to replace the fuel pump in my 1997 Z28 convertible and did not like the $800+ cost for the shop to replace it. I read up on how to do the trap door method and noticed it was much easier than dropping the suspension, exhaust, and tank. The only problem that i saw was the convertible had an additional cross member that could get in the way. I took my chances and cut a 7" by 10" hole out of the sheet metal using a hole bit to drill the corners and an air hammer with a sheet metal bit to cut the lines. The disconnect lines are harder to reach than a non convertible but i was able to get to them with needle nose pliers. After removing and replacing the pump unit i connected the lines back up which was cake since they snap right together. I cleaned the edges of the sheet metal up and cut a 8 1/2" by 11" piece of aluminum for the cover. After carefully drilling mounting holes i applied permatex and used rivets to secure the cover. If needed i can drill the rivets out and replace the pump real quick! Total time - just over 1 hour!
