Default Scanner info for 94 & 95 model Camaro

Which Scan Tools and Code Readers work on 1994 & 1995 GM vehicles?

1994 & 1995 GM vehicles were equipped with several different engine computer systems. Follow these steps, in sequence to determine which diagnostic tool is right for your vehicle:

1) Find the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) in your vehicle:
If the PCM is a black box with cooling fins located under the hood, your vehicle is most likely OBD II. To confirm that your vehicle is OBD II-compliant, check the Emissions Decal located in the engine compartment. If you determine that your vehicle is OBD II compliant, use any OBD II scanner and OBD II cable.

2)If the PCM is a silver box, find the DLC (Diagnostic Link Connector)under the dashboard, on the driver's side:
A) If the DLC is a 16-pin D-shaped connector, the vehicle is OBD I-equipped, butusesan OBDIIconnector. In this case use a OBD I scanner and an OBD II cable. If you are using a AUTOXRAY scanner, use the blue GM Manufacturer specific cable 20211.
B)If the DLC is a 12-pin rectangular connector, the vehicle is OBD I equipped with a OBD I connector. In this case use an OBD I scanner (GM compatble) and a standard GM cable. OBD I vehicles used propretiary connectors to make it difficult for people to fix their own cars.
