How do we know a bad fuel pump? This is very important to car engines to start, But how do we spot a bad fuel pump to a good one.

 

Check fuel pressure with engine under fuill load.

 

yup, I and uncle already did that procedure... i know that all fuel pumps were always mechanical. This means that they operate through a system that runs off of the rotation of the engine itself. i'm not that knowledgeable in mechanical features of these products but its really frustrating now. should we return the product to the online auto partswarehouse store where we bought it?

Most mechanical fuel pups work off a special lobe on the camshaft and use a short push rod to work the lever on the pump. Mechanical pumps are usually intended for feeding carburetors and have a working pressure of under 10 PSI. What problems are you having?

 

With the engine off, look down the carburetor and pump the throttle by hand. If you see gas squirting, that means your fuel pump is working and your problem is elsewhere.
If you get nothing, then it could be fuel pump, could be fuel supply blockage from the tank, could be the carburetor float being stuck.
Yes, it would be helpful to know exactly what you have and what it's doing.

 

I'm already experiencing some form of a sputtering, stuttering, stammering during start. I guess I really have to consult expert mechanics about this guys. I'm also calling auto parts warehouse for the defective product I bought from them. I will be asking for a replacement or total refund.
