Default Chip or Shop tuned

Ive heard theres alot of good that comes from the programable chips for a 01 z28 but recently my friend took his neon srt4 to a shop and had its computer remaped and tuned. I took a ride with him and it felt like a bigger gain than 20-30 hp idk if it was just cause of his car and model and engine or if a shop tune is better than a performance chip. Also my nieghbor who said he used to own a 01 z28 said his used to cut off at 115. mine has never done that ive taken it to 150 and it was still pullin did the stock z28 cpus cut them off at 115 or was he just full of ****.

Thanks for the reply

Can't help you with the chip but my 95 Z28 stock is governed at 190 Km.

50 miles is 80 km's converted. Good luck.

A chip will do nothing but advance timing. A dyno tune will produce much better results every time

Anywhere from $300-$400 and that includes A/F ratio, speedo changes, spark timing, everything you could think of doing really...

Like Evilkal said, $300-400 for a good dyno tune & hands down better than a programmer.. I tried a programmer (no need to say which) at first with my 00 Z & it had some good features but the dyno tune was worth every penny.

has anyone come across any computer program that interfaces with the OBDII connection and can reprogram and or read vital information like A/F, Engine Temp, Trans temp, Oil pressure etc.

Well, Carl, I'd say one fast way to see that in a net search is fast search is fast is fast as you can type, "fuelairspark" <all as one word.

Do it right the first time and get a good dyno tune. You will pick up more power and your car will run a lot better.

Most mail order tunes or chips are not tuned the best and can even cause the car to get worse fuel milage with very little power gain. (a issue i have had with a P13 H22 before) For GM cars and trucks God gave us a little gift called HP tuners. hook up with a good F-body or GM tuning shop and get it on the dyno you will be happy with your results
