I put premium gas in mine but that's because it's tuned for it. Premium gas WILL make your car run better and longer... Simple answer.

As Saint_Ali said, the car was set up to burn premium from the factory. It will run on mid grade or even regular, but the PCM will retard the spark to prevent spark knock, and as result power and economy will drop.

Are you saying it is way past full? Or it is lower than full? If it is way past full, it is normal. It's the way the tank is shaped. You'll notice that the first "1/4 of a tank" will last you forever, but 3/4 and below is goes down quicker. The gauge isn't too accurate as to what percentage you have left (unless you are empty, or just filled up).

In his case it will, because the engine calls for high octane. Currently, he's using low grade, which will make the engine perform worse.
So using the recommended premium will make it run better, or "like it was meant to."

Yeah, the needle won't accurately tell you how many more miles you have left, but I assure you, if you're on E, you really are just about empty.

You should be running 93 octane to start with.
