Gotta agree with the post rules. Although it seems to turn away alot of new comers to site. Just IMO.

right, i just wasnt sure where the rule was looking when it determines number of posts. in a system like this the total number of posts (OT included) is recorded somewhere in th background.

You can still check how many posts you have made on the OT thread when you scroll over the envelope of the thread....

that isnt really the issue. knowing how many posts you have in 1 OT thread (like LTE for example) doesn't tell you the overall activity across the boards. that number is tracked somewhere, I am just not sure where - and its likely not tracked anywhere where a normal member can see it.

I think it's fine that OT posts don't count. Makes sense.

But I think the thing where you have to have a certain amount of posts before posting in other sections probably turns a lot of real (not spam) people away. I'm not sure if CF has that restriction though.

I tinkered with those restrictions awhile ago, but I believe NJ is the one who set up the current settings. it is my understanding that anyone has full post access, but restriction to other features until they have 3 posts. NJ would have to confirm

Well 3 posts isn't bad. I think at mustang forums it was 50 posts. I think you had to post 50 things in the new members area or a tech forum before you were allowed into off topic (this was a problem for me, as you could a imagine). So I don't go there anymore.
