Default How-to: Signature in your Post!

Part #1:

*DISCLAIMER* - Your signature picture can NOT exceed 500x250 in size. Any pictures that do will be subject to removal by the admin.

For starters, you need to find a place that will host your image/picture. While the forum allows for the upload of signature images, it is far easier to host your signature. There are a few decent places that do it for free like.....

www.photobucket.com or www.imageshack.us

I chose to use Photobucket for this as I found it easier to use for demonstration purposes, and because it's easier to access from anywhere.

To start, you need to create an account if you dont already have a hosting site account. To do this....go to www.photobucket.com Once there, you will need to register for an account. This takes a few seconds and you fill out a little information.

From your galleries or albums page within photobucket, you should will be able to upload photos.

Part #2:

Now that we have your signature picture hosted, we can now login to the forum and add it to your posts. Start by clicking the UserCP link on the main page of the forum.

Clicking the link will take you to the hidden side of your Profile. This is the page where you can edit your viewable information on the forum.

On the far left of the userCP is a vertical bar entitled "Your Control Panel". Scroll down to the heading "Settings and Options" and under this find "Edit Signature".

Now, you need to add the link for your signature picture in the box marked Signature. Be sure you select the url that is named "Direct Link" in photobucket. As of right now, it is the 2nd url in the list available to you. If you cannot see the urls (there are typically 4 available with photobucket) scroll over the picture. They should appear.

Start by typing [image] then paste the link to your picture then finish it up with [/image] It should look like this.

[image]local://upfiles/5009/FAAE9B65161942088F9770F85B20DB1B.jpg[/image]

Another option is to use the "Insert Image" button. If you are using the basic or advanced editor, the insert image button appears at the top of any text box. It is to the right of the Bold, Italic, and Underline buttons. It is mostly yellow, and looks like a couple of small mountains with a strangely grey sun. I dont know why they chose to make it look like this..... Paste the URL into the popup you get when clicking this button and click OK.

Your almost done....now you need to scroll down. You will have two options. You can preview the signature, to make sure you did everything right, or you can choose to save it.

Congratulations! You've now uploaded your signature picture to your posts! If for some reason it does not show up: Be sure to check the url is a direct link and not otherwise formatted (if it contains special characters like % it may have html formatting and will be invisible in the forum). Next make sure you have signatures enabled in you "Edit Options" area (within the UserCP near the edit signature link).

Need help resizing your pictures to make them fit? Here's a quick, easy way if you dont have any photo resizing programs....

1) Go to www.resize2mail.com
2) Select option below (25% smaller 75%smaller etc..)
3) Click chose, and chose the correct image
4) Click ok
5) Right click on image after it is loaded and save as (desktop)
