hey, i just got the car, it camewith an after market stereo, and a kit tohold it in the stereo slot, and something is wrong with the wiring(im guessing), and when they installed it they just cut the wires and tied them together and taped them, but maybe its supposed to be like this i really idk, but the wires that say "POWER" and "CAR BATTERY" coming from the radio are both tied onto the same single wire coming from the car. and whenever the car is off, the radio turns off(backlighting, sounds etc)
but there is still a clock on it(supposed to be on while car is off)and the radio drains the battery when the car and radio are off(but the clock is still on) so can you tell me if the "power" and "Car battery" are hooked up correctly? and if not, could you give me a diagram or tell me what colors are what coming from the car(front speaks, ground, power,battery etc), the ones from the stereo are already labeld, thanks, sorry for the long post

onto your problem i had the same problem with my eclipse, the female apdt was missing so there was no way for me to tell if i had hooked up correctly or not.

but the simple solution is run your ( red,yellow wire them together ) along with your ground wire to the battery terminals. 18 gauge wire needed. the only ***** about this is you have to manually turn off and on and most likely lose all of your key acc features until you have key on.

 

i doubt its your stereo first diconnect deck and see if the battery still dies
