if my radio says theft lock can i replace it or does the dealer have to unlock it

You can just replace the radio if you want, but if you want to keep the stock radio you now have, you need to see a dealer or an authorized GM radio repair shop.

but ur saying if i want to put the stock radio back in my car i need codes?

The code resides in the radio, not the car. So if the radio is disconnected from the battery, and then reconnected, it won't work if the security code is not punched in (this private code was punched in by the prevoius owner). This is done on purpose to make the radio useless in case of theft. The dealership has, or can get the master code from GM to unlock the radio.

Mine was locked, I just went to the dealership. They will do some kind of pattern to get a code that will show up on your radio, then they'll call Chevy and then they will give you a code you need to type into your radio then it will work just fine. 5 minutes.

i got the radio installed which the guy said the amp on the stock radio was better and i guess it was since when the music plays now it sounds like the door vibrates which can be annoying

also the plug that goes from the aux to the ipod where can i buy it and what is it called
