Default Tail Light problems

Well one of my friends who was following me during the day said I had a tail light out, so I went and got a bulb. But right before I was going to put it in, I checked it myself, (when it was dark) and my right tail light was fine, but when you step on the brakes, the whole right side didn't work. So, I was wondering if it could be a fuse or something else electrical wrong with it?

you could have a short somewhere...try taking the bulbs out of the right side and putting them into the left side to make sure they work

the most efficient way to test those tail lights is to use a volt meter. if u have one set it to 12volts and test the voltage at the bulbs and at the fuse, if its not blown. also sometimes the fuses arent blown, but they just crack a little bit, so definitly check the voltage at the fuse.[:'(]
