Default New Head unit.

I'm looking to replace the head unit on my 3red generation camaro. I plan on getting two kenwood 4x6s, and two 6x9s to replace the stock. I'll also be getting two 12" subs. Should I look for a head unit with lots of power, or is there a way I can slip a 4 channel amp in the dash? What's a good head unit to look for?
Thanks,
Austin

You might want to PM Hiss04Cobra. If you are going to do what you stated, you might want to upgrade your battery or altenator, or both. I find putting an amp under the passenger seat to work well. I find Pioneer and Eclipse to make good headunits, and personally prefer Boston Acoustics for speakers.

ha okay, that's probably a smart move. I'll give him a message. Okay, I'll take a look at those. I could always put the amp for the front four speakers in the front under the passenger seat, right? or would that just be excessive? I would definitely need an Amp for the 6x9s, right, because they're listed at 50 RMS. The 4x6s are 20 RMS, so it probably wouldn't be needed, correct?

Sure you could always hook up the four speakers to a 4 channel amp, and hook up the subs to another amp, or you could hook up the speakers to the headunit and the subs to an amp.

well I know I could just hook it up to the headunit, but find me a headunit that has 50 Watt RMS, and the cost difference between that and a standard head unit is less than a small amp.

A newer 06' or 07' Alpine would sure as hell bring out the sound in your 6x9's and 4x6's. The just invest in a mono channel amp to power ONLY your subs. It will sound really good!
