Default New Deck

Im installing a new head unit in my 86 z28 IrocZ, ive got all the wires soddered together that i need except for a solid blue wire for the power antenna. the antenna on the car is broken off (vandalized). and my question is do i have to hook up the wire to make the antenna pickup the radio signal?or is the wire just to make the motor move it up and down? cause if the wire is just for the motor ill use that for a amp signal instead, and buy a solid antenna so i can still have the radio... screw the power antenna ..junk thanks for the help in advance.

Default RE: New Deck

That wire is just for making it go up and down. You can use it for an amplifier remote if you want. If your new deck has one though, I would use the one labled "remote" (I usually see either one or the other though)

Your actual signal from the antenna is usually a black encased wire that is fairly large around (1/4" or so diameter) that plugs in separately from the main harness.
