Default Memory wire problem

So for some reason my stereo shut off today. I took out the deck and checked all the wires. Came to the conclusion that it is the memory wire that somehow causes the stereo to turn off. If I don't connect the memory wire the stereo works fine turns on and off but obviously I will have to reset my settings evey time. I know that the wire has to be connected to a wire that has constant power even when the cat is off.

My question is, were should I get the power from. I'm going to tape off the old wire and I wnt to find a new hot wire.

Can I connect it to the wire that goes to my amp straight from the battery? Should I connect it strait to the battery? Or were would I be able to find another "hot" wire?

We were discussing this on another forum, same issue. Won't store your presets or anything?

sounds like your power wires are crossed. if you do not have your acc wires and constant power tapped in correctly , the radio will not store any presets or anything, your clock as well will go back to 12:00
or you possibly have a blown fuse under the hood.

everything is wired correctly.. that deck has been in the car for over a year now and all the stations stayed pre set.. all of a sudden the stereo wouldnt turn on.. i checked them all individually and for some reason the stereo will only start if the memory wire is not connected. so i figured a fuses would have gone bad or wire melted or something.. so i want to find a new hot wire for constant power to the stereo.. could i take this from the cigg lighter?

You checked all the fuses to make sure they're good? Running it to the cig lighter would work, but i'd try to figure it out correctly first.

i thought i had checked all the fuses.. but last night before splicing the wires i found one fuse blown.. i didnt have any spares around so i took out the fuse to the windshield wipers ad used that one.

for some odd reason though, now when i lock and unlock my car, my fog lights flick on and off..

The only lights that used to flick on and off were the inside lights and the little yellow lights on the front bumper. Now the h.I.d. Fog lights flicker. Oh well no biggie.

But thatnks for the help. The stereo does work now. Stationed stay programed and everything. But now I am looking for a new deck. I want one wiu an auidio Jack input in the back sloe in the front so I can connect my iPhone directly. The fm trAnsmiters don't work very well

I know no mine if the fog lights are switched to on, then they will also flash with the alarm.
