the speakers in your backseat are tweeters you wont get much sound out of them. I thought mine werent working either but i put my ear to it and listened and it was quite. its a mid range i believe.

yeah for the size of the covers youd think that they were supposed to make some serious noise.

bad spartan, no *rubs his nose in post*

the speakers in the hatch are 2way woofer/tweater component. the back seat speakers are actually subwoofers, in camaro's they are SVC 6.5" subs, and they are on a low cut channel of the factory amp, so what is really happening is if u put a 3way speaker in there, they dont respond to such low frequencies so you get no sound, and all of the high frequencies are cut out. u may feel the cone vibrate just a little, but no noise comes out.
if you get a subwoofer however, and they can be kinda hard to find, PM me and ill let u know where I got mine, since it is not a site vendor, u get nothin but bass.

most people ive talked to will leave the hatch speakers alone (i actually took mine out so I can reach in through the grill to open up the nitrous bottle from inside the car) install good front speakers, and good midrange subs for a basic upgrade. This is what I did, it was pretty cheap, and im really happy with the sound.

tweeters, even factory ones produce alot of sound. its why in ghetto-rap-mobiles, alot of those guys will put big *** subs, and match it with tweeters to get the high snare sound, completely forgoing midrange. i think it sounds like doo doo tho. I can still hear my factory tweeters through the infinity kappa perfects in the doors and the MA audio subs in the sail panel (rear seats)
