Default 94' Camaro Sound System...

Hey, I have a 94' Camaro, it's not a z28 or anything, it doesn't have the bose system, but id like to know what i have. I have the headunit, and the 4 speakers...is there an amp in this sytem or is it built into the head unit? Im installing a Jensen ($79 at circuit city), 4 kenwood 5 1/4" 3 way speakers, a Alpine 55x4 Watt amp, and a 400watt pioneer 12" subwoofer. Also, if there has an amp in the system, where is it? Id like to know where all of the componets to my old stereo are so i can remove/inspect them....

you might want to look into getting a bigger amp. That amp will not do your subs much justice

Well, I upgraded my stereo, and so far this is what I have:

Pioneer MP 1900 Headunit
Alpine 55watt x4 Amp
Pioneer 450w Sub
Kenwood 1661 3way 5.25" Speakers (4)

Now the problem is, its all hooked up, but my subwoofer is not working right..it isn't giving bass its giving a little bit of treble and thats it.....why is it doing this? remote is connected, power and to a good chassis ground....any help?

The sub and amp were used but working and i got them for free...

Heres pics of the sub and amp:

are you running just you sub off your amp? If so you should bridge the wires because that amp isnt throwing out much power if it being used by multiple sources i.e. other speakers

The amp is jsut powering the sub, thats it. Its the RCA preamp out fromt he headunit, going strait to the amp, then the amp to the sub

good thats how you will get the most power to your sub from that amp. But if i were you i would look into gettin a bigger amp to power that sub. Anyways you were wondering if there was an amp somewhere in your old system? i dont quite know if i follow what your trying to say or not. you have an amp right now running your subs which is hooked up directly from your preamp output. i believe your head unit will be throwing out some power and some amplification but its not that quality of a head unit no offense (sorry) so i wouldn't bank on your speakers getting a lot of power from it. What kind of head unit is it? and if i didnt answer your question please rephrase it for me

I plugged the amp into the preout, and then i hooked the sub up to the amp, and im getting nothing but treble. Ground, Remote and power is all good, and so are all the other cables...but the only thing im getting is a little bit of treble, and no bass. Its acting like another speaker.

Do I need a bigger sub or a bigger amp or something?

i noticed on the pic of your amplifier their are a bunch of **** and panels but i can't see what their labels are. They most likely control what sound is going to come out of the sub or not. try messing with those and post again
