Default 16 Volt Charging?

If I got a 16 Volt battery with dual post (1 for 16 volts and 1 for 12) Does that come with a built in isolator? How do you charge the 16 volt side? How do people with 16 volt batteries charge them on the car?

not sure i understand what your asking norm but, hope this helps ... been thinking about going 16 volts myself and using a regulator. sure would simplify my dragging. Sick

Yes that does help! Well I like the 16 volt alternator, but how do you charge the 12 volt side on the well i should say. tri post batteries.

i'm assuming that the 12 volt terminal is charged through the 16 volt terminal and that the 12 volt terminal is only used to connect 12 volt acessories and for alternator use. from what i have read the 16 volt battery is actually a 12 volt and a 4 volt with a bridge. kinda like hooking 24 volts to a starter to get a tight engine to turn over. negative of one battery positive of the other ... then negative to positive between the two batterys. So it's like taking AA batteries and connecting them from Positve to Negative and then at each end with different polaraties to get the voltage up. 1 AA battery = 1.5 volts 2 AA batteries = 3 ( wiring them parallely SP?) Wire them in series and you get more amps. So is that the same theory with the battery cells? With my voltmeter, i still get 4.5 volts with 3 batteries and hooking it up to the middle one so I don't know if there is a diode or how they make it lol. Maybe just too much thought?

correction ... it looks like the third post is solely for charging with a twelve volt alternator. the trick is you have to have a boost box hooked to the alternator to be able to charge the other 2 cells. Sick
