Winter Tires for Stock 16 inch rims
I have a 1997 Camaro Z28 with the stock 16 inch wheels. For sale is a cheap set of winter tires I wanted to get, but they are 205/55/R16. Right now I have 245/50/R16 on the car... Could these winter tires be safe to go low speeds for the winter?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I wouldn't want to run a tire that skinny on an 8" rim, it's pushing the safety limits. That said they should mount up and work but if I were you I'd look for a set of 225's. Here's pretty hot deal.... about $360 new.......https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes

I had a set of 205/55s on mine a few years back. They'll mount, but you're at the very limit for the wheel.
I ran two winters with my Camaro. If you can find them, a set of Pacemark Snowtrakker tires is the way to go. They were fairly priced and amazing in heavy and light snow. When we (PA) got hit with our first heavy wave of snow a few years back, I was passing 4 wheel drive trucks left and right going up our main highway. Tires make all the difference and I didn't even have them studded!
