Default This is what happens when you swerve 2 dogs when the roads are slick and doing 50+

driving on a state route earlier tonight (two lane road, i was in the right lane) cruising about 50 or so. its been raining all day, and flurrying since night time. so the roads are a bit slick. all of a sudden two dogs, one small, one medium sized crossed right in front of me (from left to right). i didnt even notice untill my brother gasped and put his hand out, i look up and i paniced and swerved to the left, turned the wheel right and felt the *** end kick out, i pushed the clutch in and tried to correct it by turning the wheel left....wasnt happening.

my *** end kept turning and i basically spun about 150 degrees before hitting the front driver side of my bumper on the guardrail, in which it gave my *** end more velocity and it slung my driver side quarter panel even harder into the rail. then spun me about another 90 degrees and stopped. ended up driving away with nothing else damaged other than the body. (hopefully). i didnt feel any vibrations in the suspension or anything. only thing i know of is the left turn signal dont blink anymore, it stays solid, and i checked and its due to my front driver side blinker fixture. idk what it is but it dont blink. thats the least of my worries though.

im not a guy to cry, but after i drove away and got down the road a bit, and after i screamed the f word over and over, i realized that there had to have been terrible damage to my car and broke down and cried, wimpering "my ****ing car man". it was so heart breaking hearing my car hit that guard rail guys.

Sorry about your ride man. I know it was a moment of panic, and you didnt have time to react, but with fear of sounding heartless just hitting the dog would have been way better. My old girlfriend flipped her car trying to miss a rabbit. She was in the hospital almost a week, over a rabbit. I hate to be "that guy" but is a dogs life worth more than you or your brothers? Luckily, neither of yall were hurt, and hopefully the car isnt totaled.

Literally, about a mile down the road I was saying I should've just mowed them both over. Then at least it would've been a front bumper only. I wasn't thinking and just reacted and swerved them, which was an obvious mistake. I'm hoping the frame isn't bent, but that quarter panel slammed pretty hard.

And the messed up part is that I actually hit one of the two dogs. It left a dent on the passenger side of the bumper.

Rule #1: never swerve to avoid an animal that's smaller than your car.
Rule #2: see rule #1.
Sorry to hear about your mishap.

dont beat yourself up, swerving is a natural reaction. But 69 is right about not swerving. As Ive gotten older I have seen the results of swerving, and sometimes it can be deadly for you and others around you. Best advice I ever give anybody is dont "swerve".... "Duck", especially in a car with the nose built like your Camaro. Ive seen Dogs, Cows, and more often around here... Deer come over the hood and right through the windshield. Glad you didnt get hurt, sorry about your Camaro.

I don't swerve, I cringe when I hear and feel the thud. Although in my (dd) Jeep, it's easier to go over a critter or medium sized animal without doing damage.
