I wanted to keep the stock 16 ‘ rimes, mostly because I think they look good on the car, but partly also because the majority of the 4gen runs on aftermarket rims.
Car came with 235/60/16 on when I got it, which was good for potholes but made it sit oddly high and had plenty of age cracks, so needed to be replaced regardless.
The original tire size 245/50/R16 is from what I understood pretty obsolete and hard to find anymore, aiming for the same height as 245/50/R16 (122.5 mm) closest was 225/55/R16 (123.7 mm) which first seemed way too narrow, but as I had a chance to buy a set of nearly new one’s real cheap, I decided to give it a shot which so far has turned out well.
The car drives good on the road, stable at higher speeds and fully ok roadholding for the normal driver.
I'm running 255/50/16 on my third gen. Can you get that size?
Yes, that size is available, for ex Toyo Proxes costs 460 cad, and Micheline for the double
I choose the 225/55/R16 option to get the right height on the car, but partly also because I was curios of how the car would drive on that size, but mostly as it was cheap solution that will save me money for other parts needed to this beast
