Suggest me a wheel size
So I'm really liking the look of the American Racing Torq Thurst Ds
American Racing - Wheels
But what size? The stock 16" wheels on my 98' look pretty bad to me. The whole wheel and especially the rim just look too big for the car.
So I was thinking of getting a 15x8 up front and 15x10 in the rear. But then I saw craby's red Camaro as the first post in the wheel pics sticky here
https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02...s-specs-69936/
and it actually looks pretty good. I'm thinking because the wheels are more of a deep dish than the stock ones they kinda downplay the size somewhat. So maybe the TTDs would be fine in 16". And the deep dish effect might make the 15s look TOO small. BUT I plan on lowering the car about 3/4" also and the 15s plus a smaller diameter tire to match would let me lower it while still having a decent amount of suspension travel left (the roads in NYC are BAD)
I'm not a huge fan of big rims on a car both appearance and weight wise. So I probably won't go past 16".
The thing is I want a fatter set of tires in the back than front and there's just not much choice on width with the 16s. Just 7, 8, and 9.5"
So what do you guys think? 16x8front and 16x9.5 rear?
Or 15x8 front and 15x10 rear?
Would I run into any issues with wheel well or brake clearance with any of my choices as long as I don't increase the overall wheel diameter with the tire?

don't use 15s. i like the 17s. my wheels are 8.5x17 front and 11x17 rear. tires are 245/45 front 315/35 rear. i thought the 17s would look funny till i seen em on the car.

Thanks for the responses. After some more thinking, I decided I'll go for some 17x9 American Racing VNT70Rs
American Racing - Wheels
Since it seems to be much easier to find the right size tires for 17" wheels. Almost no options for the 16s in anything past a 8" width.
But now it seems impossible to find any Torq Thrusts in 17x10 or 11 for the rear. You just can't win.
So I'll go with the 17x9s all around and see if I can get the rear sent to Weldcraft to be widened if I feel the need later on.

I'm kinda ehhh on the Torq Thrust Ms. They look too modern. I like the old school look.
Anyway after some more research I'm wondering if the VTN70Rs will even work on my camaro. As I understand, the stock 16" wheels have a +55mm offset. Whereas the VTN70Rs and Torq Thrust 2s (that seem to be THE go to when it comes to TTs on a 4gen) all have a 0mm offset. Wouldn't that have my wheel sticking WAAYYY out of my wheel well? Especially if I go up in width over stock?
And yet every 4th gen I see with TT2s looks amazing. How's it done? Is there more involved than just bolting the new wheels on?
Pickin out the right set of wheels is harder than I though.
