Default 97 base camaro - keep/upgrade or trade?

Been thinking about this alot and wanted to get some opinions...

I currently have a 97 Camaro (base model) with a V6/3.8, 163k mileage with original engine, body has no rust but paint is scratchy, interior only really needs a new dash panel, ~2k put into it recently with tires and general small repairs to get it fully functional mechanically. Still needs a passenger window motor, the dash panel, and a serious buff job on the paint (hopefully).

I'd LIKE to have something with a bit more flash, so I got it in my head to maybe clone it to a RS (having a bit of trouble finding out exactly what I need though).

THEN I got to wondering it it would just be more worthwhile to just sell/trade my base version for an SS/Z28, and possibly put less money into it fixing something with all the options already there versus having to start with a decent bare base car that I have now.

Anyone gone through this before? What's the cost of upgrading to an RS clone and where can I find a list of parts? Am I really better off going to a completely new car?

Thoughts?

-Dirk

EDIT - posted here mainly because of the exterior look/package, probably in the wrong area but oh well...

For the amount of money you would put into finding the body pieces and doing the various other upgrades such as the suspension (if you go that far), you would be better off selling it as is. If you add a body kit to it and try to sell it, you won't get your money back. You would probably regret not selling it and getting a z28 or ss as they really are huge upgrades over the base model.

Thats kind of the answer I was afraid of... not that I expect to ever get back equal to what I put into it, but still...
